Juniperus procumbens
A naturally prostrate evergreen from the Cupressaceae (Cypress) family featuring small needle-like leaves on dense, intertwining branches. A great choice for bonsai!
Care Tips
Juniperus procumbens is almost always grown outdoors as ground cover or as select bonsai specimens. It is usually not recommended for indoor growth. However, if you are seeking a challenge here is what it’ll need to be a healthy indoor plant:

- as much sun as you can give it. East or west facing window sills might be the only way to go.

- a pebble tray, humidity-loving neighbors, and light mistings during warmer months will help maintain humidity, especially if indoors.

- gentle watering schedule. Juniper roots do not like to be wet for long. Let the soil dry out before watering again.

- as with most potted plants, well draining soil.

- good air circulation. A fan or an open window is key for proper growth.

- regular feeding with a slow-release or liquid fertilizer.
